Greeting my beautiful friends!
It’s raining right now in my home country, and what better way to spend time indoors
than to unbox Marzia’s Limited Edition SUMMER FAVES BOX?
I love Marzia a lot; her style is very similar to mine – cute and girly yet comfy and sporty at the same time – and she is downright beautiful.
I have received another one of her subscription boxes in the past, and was really looking forward to trying this one. Let’s see what’s inside shall we?
During my year-long stint at University, I studied Psychology for two semesters. I enjoyed every second of it… well, I love Psychology in general; I spent more time outside reading or surf-shopping with my classmates from my course than actually paying attention to the lectures since all the notes were sent to us by email.
Just a few days ago, I was looking for some things and I stumbled upon these Psychology notes, and it made me feel nostalgic of the one-year stint.
In a forum for the local MHA, someone wanted suggestions on Psychology courses, and a friend of mine said that she is attending one and that is is really interesting. And that triggered my sudden interest in sitting for a Psychology course… at least on Intermediate level… for now.
I’ve always been a keen voluntary worker, but never really found the time to do much voluntary work. Last time I did any type for voluntary work was for a school project which was worth almost half my grade. I once did voluntary work at the Notarial Archives in Valletta.
But other than that, nothing.
Now that I have three whole months in summer of not working, I decided on doing more voluntary work if I don’t manage to find a job for the summer, and decided on two organisations to give helping hand to:
MSPCA – Malta Society for the Prevention of Cruelty to Animals (Everyone knows I love animals, particularly dogs, and I want this experience to serve me for a future of owning a dog myself)
Richmond Foundation – a nonprofit dealing with mental health (now you know why I want to volunteer with them).
I buy lots of make-up. I actually made a post about my make-up collection, which has since expanded spectacularly… and yet I have no clue how to apply eyeliner without looking borderline Panda.
So that’s why I think a makeup course would be good for me. I know several make-up artists who make the most BEAUTIFUL make-up, and I want to be able to do that too!
(Just nothing too extravagant. As if I want to look like the Mad Hatter!)
I mean, LOOK AT THIS BEAUTIFUL MAKE-UP!
UPDATE: I WILL BE DOING A 3-DAY MAKEUP SEMINAR TAUGHT BY ONE OF MY FRIENDS, WHO WAS HERSELF TAUGHT BY LOCALLY RENOWNED ARTIST SHASHA FABRI AAAAAAAAAAAA!
Start a Nonprofit for People Without a Voice
I don’t mean people who cannot talk, but who think they are alone in the world with their problems, no matter how little or severe they are. It could be on mental health, traumatic experiences, eating disorders, sexuality… anything the world exploits and tosses aside.
Write a Self-Help Book
The goal of all future goals. I’ve alway been keen on literature and the skill of writing. I remember my earliest memory of writing a story. It was about a boy whose toys come to life and — no, not Toy Story — they take over his family and hold them hostage. Now before you say anything… I was actually around eight years old when I wrote this. EIGHT. And already writing about hostage situations! I know, I know… weird, and sad… but I always had a wild imagination ahead of me.
(It still precedes me to this day, but anyways).
But this time I don’t want to base myself on fiction, but more of a first-hand experience type of writing.
A self-help book.
With a LOT of first-hand experience to write a freaking saga, I want to put all my life together in a book to help people of all genders, ages, religions and sexual orientation. No judgement. Just guidance and illumination through writing.
And guess what…?
I’VE ALREADY STARTED IT! Yes, that’s right! I’m in the process of writing my first (and hopefully not last) book! I already have a photographer and illustrator on board… and they’re both survivors like myself! Couldn’t have asked for anyone better than them!
So stay tuned for a book with my name written on it! AAAAAAAAAA!
So these are my future goals. I might update this post if the need arises. Let me know in the comments what YOUR goals for the future are.
Today started out as a rainy day, but towards late morning it became sunny and beautiful.
But that’s not what I’ll be writing about here. You can tell by the title what the topic of the day is! And I am E X C I T E D about it!
I ordered this in the beginning of February as a birthday present for myself. (Yes I am aware that sounds rather chauvinistic, but I think after suffering for half my life and only just began recovery last year, I deserve it).
Let me redefine the title… it’s just what makeup I own. There’s no collection of any sort. I don’t apply it as much as girls my age, but I love owning it. So here’s what I currently have inside my make-up pouch:
So this is the make-up pouch, which I got from H&M while on holiday in Budapest. It’s a transparent pouch with salmon/baby pink lining and a golden zipper.
This is my nail-polish collection which I got for myself a few Christmases ago. It’s by Kelly Brook from New Look. I think I got it for about 15 euros, not entirely sure.
The ZOYA nailpolishes and the EX1 blusher were all with CutiePieMarzia’s subscription box, which I am subscribed to because she’s awesome and I love her. And the things she puts in her Box are cruelty-free and nice!
Next up is this Essence party look set which my sister gave me last Christmas.
These are all the makeup brushes I own. I should probably invest in more, shouldn’t I? I only use the big powder brush; I haven’t even used the others once!
From left to right: My fave mascara EVER which has two applicators; roll-on perfume from New Look for everyday use; Concealer for under the eye which I sometimes use for spots.
My fave lipsticks to date. For those who want to know, the KIKO one is red.
These are my two more recent buys from Roseberry, my go-to for makeup as of recently. The staff was so helpful with me when I was struggling to choose the ‘Birthday Suit’ type colour, and they gave me a free red lipstick with the purchase (the Limited Edition Nautical Collection)!
I also got these two eyeshadow palettes from Roseberry, which colours are sooo beautiful and vibrant, which is what I’m hoping I’ll be when I wear these babies!
I got this eyeshadow palette for free with a magazine a couple years ago. I use the smokey one as you can tell from my brushes.
Next up are my pink lipstick from Bershka and my all-time fave lipfinity: essential brown 350.
I got these fake lashes free with a magazine a couple years ago as well. Dunno whether I’ll be wearing anytime soon, but maybe someday I will.
The first one’s an eyeliner and the rest are eyebrow pencils. I use different ones depending on how light or dark my hair colour looks.
I bought this 3-in-1 cover all mix from the Make-Up Store. The reddish one is used to cover redness, the yellowish one to cover dark circles, and the concealer one is a highlighter.
I love love love this hand cream and lip balm from The Body Shop! I carry them with me everywhere.
My go-to 3 in 1 concealer. Love its silky effect on my skin.
I cannot live without compact powders, which is why I have two, a Max Factor one and another one I got from a pound store.
What I use to fix my ‘brows.
This is my brow tech shaping powder, which I am in LOOOOVE with, by Smashbox.
I got this hand cream from The Body Shop, and a body spray from H&M which smells soooo good!
That’s my make-up collection, which I hope you enjoyed going through. Stay tuned for more posts by me, Claire, and see you on the flip side!!
Red lip is so on right now. You know it, I know it. But I wanted something… dark. To, you know, match my vampire complexion. Jokes aside, I’m a pale person and I wanted something dark to blend with my paleness. And I found the perfect shade.
Kate Moss (or more her line of lipsticks) came to the rescue. In the form of shade 107.
First of all, digging the colour of the container with the black writing.
The matte feel of the lipstick is so fine! And it was long lasting (credit to my boyfriend, who kept assuring me my lipstick was still intact and looking fresh!), very long lasting indeed.
Not to mention the colour is super nice! Definite buy!
I grew up with acne and it only started clearing up a few years ago. However, when the time of the month (you know the one) is approaching, the occasional blister or pimple here of there graces my appearance into something close to a xenomorph from Alien (oh yes, I went there with my movie trivia).
But then… BREAKTHORUGH. With a small product from The Body Shop.
This targeting gel looks like a lip gloss at first glance, and even the applicator looks like it. You simply apply the gel to the pimple and voila! Done-zo!
This product has really been a life saviour for my face. Its effectiveness and long-lasting effect makes this product more worthy than a 5/5 for me.
I needed a nude lipstick for ages! Lack of funds and being a lazy person are to blame, but I finally found the PERFECT shade when I visited the local drugstore (pharmacy). And it was from Kate Moss’ Nude Collection by Rimmel.
First off, I love all the lipsticks’ packaging, with the slanting top cap resembling the top part of a lipstick. But what really has me is the COLOUR used for the packaging. I mean, look at them!
Now moving on to the actual shade I bought, which is 45. The colour itself is a nude-ish brown type of colour, which is EXACTLY what I was going for at the time. The colour is quite natural so you can use it for a more natural make-up look, which I’m all for.
One thing I didn’t really like about it was the fact that it didn’t really last as long as the title says, which is ‘long lasting’, which is why it lost a rating for me.
But I’ll definitely get more shades from this collection! Also because the thing is SO SO SOOOO cheap! I mean, EUR5.75 for a nice-looking thing like this?! Definite bargain and definite buy!
