My Style Evolution

Those who know me can tell you I’m the absolute worst at being “on trend”. I live, eat and breathe in jeggings, loose band tshirts and my trainers.

But was it always this way?

Just days before my 11-monthaversary, my boyfriend and I went on a casual, chill date and I looked too nice not to make a lookbook. It is my first and the photos were taken with my phone camera, so not the best quality. Credit due goes to my boyfriend. ❤

My Experience with Body Confidence

I just have to say that this is in no way, shape or form body/fat/skinny shaming anyone. I myself was a victim of fat shaming growing up. However, being too fat is as dangerous as being too skinny. BUT if you love your body, no matter what shape or size it is, then good on you! I support that more than anything. On the other hand, though, if you’re not happy with your body, consult a doctor, or a psychologist, DO SOMETHING ABOUT IT.

Growing up, I was quite okay with my body shape – neither skinny or fat. I was an average eater (if it is such a thing), and played football and tag like my life depended on it. I was active, participated in scholastic sports’ events and sometimes even won medals (okay, so I only won two in my whole life, but let’s just say I was okay in sports).

Fast forward to the hardest phase anyone goes through: puberty. I mean, not everyone would say that time in their was awful, especially those flat-chested girls who miraculously grew a pair almost overnight (hands up). While the grow-a-pair part was good while it lasted (excessiveness is another extremity), other things started happening… acne and weight gain to name a few.

The acne part was what bothered me at first. I’d get envious of other girls with flawless faces. I sometimes applied foundation, but the bumps still showed. I was a mess. Sometimes, I would even go to the extreme extent as to want to scratch the flawlessees’ faces. Just so they would look similar to me.

As if acne wasn’t enough of a problem, in comes gaining weight. No longer active in sports due to the constant bullying, I gained weight. Being taller than other girls didn’t help either. I was called ‘Shrek’ and ‘Big Guy’. Yes, Big Guy. Because I loved sports. And I was ‘big’ compared to the rest of my peers. this is what started my love/hate relationship with my body.

I’d go days without eating anything, or if I did eat, it would be something as little as two crackers. But then, I’d go on an eating rampage, until I was too full to move a muscle. This went on from the age of 11 until 20, which is just last year.

This year, however, I learnt to accept my body.

You’d be asking, “How the heck did you manage that?”

Here’s my secret… there is none! I did what other people do when they feel this way: got my fat, sad peach off my comfy desk chair and started exercising. It cleared my mind off of the negativity I had going through my mind, and helped me focus on loving my body. Yoga and going to the gym also helped. And yes, there were fit, skinny girls at the gym I attended. But that didn’t stop me. No, sir!

You know what else helped? Celebrities like these…

“I’ve seen a lot of comments that say, ‘Eat a sandwich’ or ‘She looks sick.’ I’ve been looking at myself in the mirror being mean to myself. I’m not sick. I eat sandwiches. I’ve shamed myself for it. We shame each other online. We’re always too skinny or too fat or too tall or too short. It bothers me because I care so much about young girls.” – Emma Stone

“I’m constantly criticised for being too skinny. I’m trying to gain weight but my body won’t let it happen. What people don’t understand is that calling someone too skinny is the same as calling someone too fat, it’s not a nice feeling.” – Kendall Jenner

“If a girl wears a bathing suit, she is a ho and is body-shamed. If you don’t show your body, you’re a prude. You take pictures with a guy and you’re a ho; you take pictures with a girlfriend and you’re a lesbian. I don’t understand how girls can sit there and pick one another apart.” – Bella Thorne

And the Preach It Gurl Award goes to…

“It was just the kind of s**t that actresses have to go through. Somebody told me I was fat, that I was going to get fired if I didn’t lose a certain amount of weight. They brought in pictures of me where I was basically naked, and told me to use them as motivation for my diet. They thought that because of the way my career had gone, it wouldn’t still hurt me. ‘If anybody even tries to whisper the word “diet”, I’m like, “You can go f*** yourself.” – (Queen) Jennifer Lawrence

So if you ever feel down about your body, or find it funny to call others for the way they look, (quoting Phil Collins) STOP. THINK TWICE. Your words can hurt yourself, but most of all how others perceive you.

Do NOT let anyone tell you how you should and shouldn’t look. Be proud of you. You are unique. There is no one like you. No one can do you better than you.

Love yourself. Love your body.

MASSIVE Budapest/Vienna Haul!

Hey everybody! Welcome back to my blog!

As a few of you may already know, from the 1st until 5th of August I was on holiday with my older sister. We travelled to Budapest and also spent a day in Vienna. It was an amazing adventure and I’ve seen so many things, and enjoyed learning about a whole new culture (as I usually do when travelling to a new country).

I will be showing you what I bought in relation to fashion, accessories, souvenirs and more (in no chronological order).

Let’s start shall we…?

I got this first piece from Stradivarius. It’s a blue playsuit with half-length sleeves and a floral print. It shows the cleavage a it too much for my likings so I’ll be sewing a piece of it.

The next thing I got is yet another playsuit, but this time from a store called C&A. It’s got thin spaghetti straps, and a lace detail on the V-neck and thigh bits. It’s completely covered with a cute little floral print on a black background. I’ve already worn this on my way back home from the holiday, and let me tell you: it looks and feels good wearing it!

Next up are these two cute tank tops from Tezenis. One has a comic strip-style type of print, while the other has cute little bananas all over it.

Up next is this cute bikini top and bottom (not as a set) from H&M. I needed a girlier bikini than the swimsuit I have and this was the result! I love the floral print on the top and the crochet-like part on the bottoms.

These shorts are also from H&M. I love everything about it, from the print down to its style.

I also got this cute Pusheen pyjama trousers from H&M. I couldn’t resist, I just had to buy them!

This top is also from H&M. It has birds perching on a plant all over it. Love it!

These trousers are also from H&M (will this ever end? Nope, up next are accessories!). They’re a big big round the legs but I like how it fits.

Up next are the accessories I got from H&M, which are… a lot, as much as I bought clothes.

I got this baby pink compact selfie stick, which I needed as I was borrowing my dad’s for the holiday. Worth every penny.

Also got this transparent make-up bag, which I needed as my old one is a bit too small.

I also bought an eyebrow fixing brush and this body spray in a pink macaroon smell. The smell is AMAZING.

Also from H&M is this cute pug sharpener. For those who know me really well, they know how much I love pugs… and dogs in general.

I also got two pairs of shoes, one black and the other with blue and white stripes.

Last two items from H&M are these knee-high socks and sunglasses pouch which says ‘Be Wild and Wander’ on it.

Next up are items I got from Claire’s! They had a buy 6 pay for 3 offer so me and my older sister got three items each, and this are my things!

First up is this cute polar bear with sparkly blue eyes, which I named Gunther (for those who watch Adventure Time know what I mean).

Second and third item I got were these two beautiful golden hair bands, one with leaves on it and the other with little flowers.

I got this mini USB ventilator from a store called Colosseum in Vienna. Was slightly disappointed that it didn’t work when I tried it at my hotel room.

I think I got these from Colosseum as well. They’re white trainers with a rubbery type front. They’re a bit dirty as I’d worn them with the C&A playsuit already shown previously.

Colosseum (I think)

I also don’t know where I got this tshirt from, but for sure it’s from Vienna. It has cat-themed graphics all over it, which I think are cute.

From Promod I got this comfy dress. It has a bit of rope that ties round the waist and has yellow flowers all over it. And the bonus? It has POCKETS. I love pockets on dresses.

I got this wire from a store called Tiger. It had loads of home decors and school supplies. It was my sister’s heaven (she’s a teacher).

From a vintage store I got these pair of sunglasses and this cute shirt.

Last but not least (finally) are the clothes I got from Reserved.

I also got these lightweight trousers.

… And there’s the mandatory souvenirs. I collect snowglobes, which is why I bought two: one from Vienna and the other from Budapest.

That’s all I got from Budapest and Vienna. I hope you enjoy my hauls. If you want more of these posts please let me know! That’s it from me; see you on the flip side!

Collective Haul // eBay, Beautifulhalo.com, Asos

This month I decided to indulge myself with some items which I bought online. Because, you know… I wanted to. And these are the items I bought:

From eBay, I got this marble print cover for my phone. It’s made of plastic and so can be bended. I wanted the cover to be hard, plus the print is a little faded… like it was printed on, but I’m still happy with this.

I also bought a knock=off Ted Baker bag for less than £20… WHAAAAAAT!!!! Yes, really y’all. Less than £20, so less than EUR20. I haven’t received it yet, but it looks something like this:

Moving on… from Asos I got this really amazing book called ‘Map my Style’. It helps with creating or improving your style, and also helps with designing your own outfits.

Another thing I got from Asos is this floral halter dress. I got it in a size 12 and it’s still a little big (good news for me!). The rib part is all elasticated and the halter straps are thin.image3xxlimage2xxl

And last but certainly not least, the items I got from Beautifulhalo.com. I got this amazing watch. It has no numbers, but instead has the different moons, which I love a lot.

I also got this cute silk top. Despite being a size XL it was a bit too tight round the chest area (which means someone’s got to lay off the crisps!),and the colour I got is completely different from the one I ordered, but I still like it.

Last item is a black gem necklace. I chuckled at the sight of the packaging, thinking it was something big, but turned out to be this.1463055839227

Bag Essentials

I’ve been slacking on posts, I know. I have no excuses apart from procrastination. Big time procrastination. So as my comeback, I decided to write about my bag essentials. As a disclaimer, I’d like to point out that these are things I have in my bag; this is not an essentials bible.

Nail Files

Broken or chipped nail? No problemo! These printed emery board by Dirty Works are the perfect fix for better looking nails!

Pen & Notepad

I’m a writer, and get inspired everywhere I go. So a notebook and pen are always carried around with me. The ones I’m using are by Gorjuss, and they actually are gorgeous!

Magazine

Whenever I’m stuck on the bus in traffic, a good read is always a good company. I’m currently reading Glamour Magazine with Reese Witherspoon on the cover.

Sunglasses

Where I live is sunny sunny sunny, so a pair is always in my bag. I’m currently obsessed with these cat-eye sunglasses from River Island!

Tweezers

I carry these with me because… well, you can never know when you need an eyebrow fix. The ones I use are these slanted ones by Dirty WOrk (can you tell I’m obsessed with this brand?)

Nail Clipper

Because my nails suck, and if one is chipped or broken, then off they all go! I use Ms Manicure’s nail clipper with the grip so it’s slippery-free.

Lip Balm

Since the weather here is humid and very dry, lips often get dry and chipped in a blink of an eye. Pearly Shine by Nivea is the perfect lip balm for those dry lips, so pucker up ladies!

Hand Cream

Yas, ma’am! Like I said, with this weather we’re having, your skin is bound to get dry, so I use this hand cream with shea butter, which I got from H&M, and I haven’t used anything since.

Compact Mirror

Obviously, you need to check yourself before you wreck yourself (sorry, got carried away there). I use this cute one from Katty Miyoko

Boohoo & New Look Mini Haul

Greeting earthlings!

It’s been a while since my last post, so I decided to treat you all with a mini Boohoo and New Look haul. Let’s start off with Boohoo!

First thing I got was this beautiful dress with bell sleeves. I actually thought the colour in the picture looked more grey than khaki, but when I received the dress and tried it on I thought it looked gorgeous in khaki

bell

Another thing which I got from Boohoo is this drop-dead gorgeous short sleeved playsuit which I got in berry. it has pockets and came with a belt. Despite being a size too big, it was a little smug on the sides, but I absolutely love it.

play

Next up are the items I got from New Look.

First thing I got is this cute clutch bag which I will be wearing for a wedding very soon. It took me a while to find the perfect clutch bag… until I saw this one and fell completely in love with it.

clutch

I also got something I’d been looking for for AGES, which are these shorts that go down to the kneecaps.

knee

My ~star buy~ were these cute butterfly fairy lights which looks stunning and magical when lit up. I wanted to change up my room and got these fairy lights to decorate a little.

So that was my mini haul for today. Stay tuned for more hauls similar to this, and hope to see you again very very soon. Bye!
